What to expect
From signup to certificate, here's a step-by-step look at the Typing Certification assessment.
Enter your details
Provide your full name (as you'd like it to appear on your certificate) and an email address. That's all the personal information we ask for.
Complete payment securely
You'll be redirected to Stripe's hosted checkout to complete a one-time payment. We never see or store your card details — only Stripe handles them. Once paid, you'll be redirected back automatically.
Read the on-screen instructions
Before the test starts you'll see a final "Are you ready?" screen. The 60-second timer doesn't begin until you press your first key, so take a moment to settle in.
Type the passage for 60 seconds
A short passage will appear with a typing field below. As you type, correct characters turn neutral and incorrect characters are highlighted in red. Errors don't pause the timer — accuracy is part of your final score.
Receive your verified certificate
When time runs out, your assessment is automatically submitted. You'll see a confirmation screen with a unique reference ID, and your official certificate (PDF) will be emailed to the address you provided.
How your score is calculated
Words Per Minute (WPM)
Calculated using the industry-standard formula: (correct characters ÷ 5) ÷ minutes elapsed. Only correct characters count, so accurate typists score higher than fast-but-sloppy ones.
Accuracy
The percentage of characters you typed correctly: correct ÷ total typed × 100. A score of 95% or higher is considered professional grade.
Important to know
- One attempt per payment. Each purchase grants a single test attempt. The test cannot be paused or restarted once you begin.
- No copy-paste. Pasted text is detected and invalidates the result.
- Quiet environment recommended. A focused space with no distractions will give you your best result.
- Refunds. If a technical issue prevents you from completing the test, contact us within 7 days for a refund or retake.
